I've kept lots of fish outdoors in the summer until early October. I have never used heaters outside. I usually use filtration outside. You can keep fish outside without filters if you have large tanks or containers with lots of plants. Hope this helps.

Add a little bleach to the water, salt and eggs. The bleach helps to soften the shells and makes it easier for the eggs to hatch.

I'm planning on attending. Bought some neat stuff (chandelier, slag glass lamp, houseplants) at last years auction. Good selection of fish and plants. Lots of used tanks. Buyers delight.

Thanks to everyone who showed up at the auction and helped make it another successful NJAS event. There was a large variety of fish available. Special thanks to Mike (Spooky Fish) for bringing in lots of african cichlids.

The heck with feeder goldfish. Stock the pond with daphnia. You will have a constant supply of live food. The pond could be a gold mine. LOL!

Cheap canister filter. If something goes wrong with it you probably won't be able to find replacement parts. Stick with proven canisters like eheim, fluval, rena xps.

I never heard of a mini koi. Most koi grow to around 3 feet in length.
